Emergency Preparedness - 2026
Regulatory surveys increasingly emphasize not only compliance with evacuation requirements but also the practical feasibility and effectiveness of these plans in real-world situations. This session will address the importance of carefully considering the finer details of your emergency preparedness plan to ensure its viability and effectiveness during an actual emergency.
To address these challenges, many facilities have adopted the Incident Command System (NH-AL ICS), which is modeled after the Incident Command System (ICS) employed by federal, state, and local agencies nationwide. The ICS is a proven emergency management framework that draws from successful business practices and military strategies, reflecting decades of accumulated lessons in the organization and management of emergency incidents. Its structured approach facilitates effective communication, resource allocation, and decision-making during crises.
In this two-day webinar, Kenneth Daily, a specialist in life safety and emergency preparedness, will explore the development and implementation of NHICS within long-term care facilities. He will illustrate how this system embodies organizational best practices for emergency response and serves as a national standard for emergency management. ICS is designed to empower facilities to respond swiftly and efficiently to emergencies, providing a clear structure and focused direction. This seminar aims to enlighten participants with an understanding of the expectations outlined in the Emergency Preparedness Rules, the fundamental components of a disaster management plan, and the essential concepts of the Incident Command System.
The cost is $175 per person for members and $350 per person for non-members. Additional attendees from the same facility are discounted. A $25 early-bird discount will be applied to all registrations through August 14, 2026.
